Synopsis: Shinya was starting to get desperate. How stubborn could a man get? Very, if Die was the man in question. Why did he have to be like that, Shinya didn’t understand. He sighed and was about to try again when he felt Die turn him to face the guitarist.
Comments: Bwah, once again something I didn't originally plan. That's what you get when writing in bed. x) And yeah, I got a bit carried away with Kyo... and with Die... and practically with everything. *laughs* But well, at least I wrote something!

It wasn’t until 10 am. when Shinya finally woke up. He felt Miyu’s weight move on his chest and lazily opened his eyes. The drummer was greeted with a sight of his dog curled up as a fuzzy little ball right before his eyes, watching him with her deep brown eyes. Shinya smiled and held out a hand to stroke her soft fur, Miyu licking his bare wrist as he did so.

Shinya laughed softly and glanced at the clock, frowning as he realized that he had overslept. He should have been waking up an hour or two ago but then again, he wasn’t actually late and after the events that had been taking place at the previous day he guessed he had just needed to sleep more than he usually did.

Getting up, Shinya decided to take Miyu out before doing anything else. The drummer got dressed and picked his dog up in his arms, heading towards the door.

The two of them didn’t stay out long, though, as Shinya knew that he had some things to do before Die would make his appearance. First of all he needed to call Kyo to remind the blond about the promise he had given Shinya some time ago. The vocalist had promised to take care of Miyu for him when he was in need of help. Surely his current situation would count as a time like that; he was after all going to spend the night away from home and wouldn’t want Miyu to be left alone. Besides, Kyo was indeed available because of his decision of not to go to the party with them. He had no one else to blame than himself. Grinning, Shinya picked up his phone and dialled Kyo’s number.

“…shi moshi?” Kyo’s voice was, as Shinya had predicted, sleepy.
“Ohayou, Kyo-kun,” Shinya chirped, knowing full well that his brisk voice would only annoy the vocalist.
“Ohayou,” Kyo mumbled and yawned. Shinya suppressed a giggle.
“Rise and shine, sleepyhead.” The drummer couldn’t help to tease the older man, but only a little.
“Shin-kun, you do realize that just a minute ago I was happily sleeping?” the older man inquired, sighing.
“Hai.”

“Just a thought. So, my dearest little drummer boy, is there something you want from me or did you just call me at this ungodly hour to call me a sleepyhead and to destroy my beauty sleep?” Kyo asked.
“Well, actually there is,” Shinya admitted.
“Okay then, shoot.”
“Remember when you offered to take care of Miyu when I can’t do it myself?”
“…hai.” Kyo sighed then continued, sounding both amused and annoyed at the same time: “My instinct tells me that you need me to take care of her while you’re at the party with Die. But may I inquire why did you wait until now?”

Shinya smiled sheepishly though he knew the other wouldn’t be able to see it. “I guess I just forgot. Gomen. But yesterday wasn’t the easiest of days for me, you know,” Kyo made a sound of understanding, “and then Kao-kun made me go to the party with him… I simply forgot all about it.” Shinya sighed.
“No need to apologise, I know that you had hard time with Die. But you do realize that he doesn’t mean to hurt you, don’t you? He’s just being… well, Die.”

“Die the thoughtless guitarist, I know.” The drummer chuckled. “And I did forgive him, I always do. Sometimes I just can’t understand him, that’s all. Like last night when he called me…” Shinya pressed his lips together; Kyo didn’t need him whining about Die’s strange behaviour. “Gomen, Kyo-kun, forget that I said anything.”
“Shin-chan, there’s no need for you to apologise,” Kyo said softly. “I’m your friend; you can tell me if something is bothering you. So… what did he say?”

Shinya bit his lip, unsure of whether he should tell Kyo or not. But perhaps the older man was wiser than him and would be able to get some sense into the guitarist’s words. Brushing his hair away from his face and taking a deep breath, Shinya began.

“This sounds so silly, but… It all began after the rehearsals when he kept calling me “his Shin-chan” and offered me a ride home which I tried to refuse. Of course he had to have his way and he actually carried me into his car. God that man is stubborn!” The drummer paused for a while, growing a little nervous with the lack of response he received from Kyo. Shinya cleared his throat and continued: “Then he called me around midnight and asked me to forget about being Dir en grey’s drummer, and then he reminded me to dress nicely at the party and… anou… said some other stuff as well…” Shinya’s voice began to trail off. He gave an embarrassed little laugh. “Boy do I sound so stupid telling you all this.”

“Not at all, Shin-kun, except that actually you do, a little but that’s not the point.” Kyo snickered and continued: “I’m not saying that you’re stupid or something, just a bit slow. You should try to read between the lines or something.”
“Nani?” Shinya felt puzzled. He didn’t really understand what the vocalist was saying. “Are you hinting something, Kyo-kun, or do you just like talking in riddles?”
“Shinya love. I’m simply trying to help you to see the bigger picture here.” Kyo was clearly amused.
“Well, it would definitely help if you were a little clearer than that,” the drummer pointed out. “You’re not actually making any more sense than Die-kun. Is it because of the phone or is it just me?”

“I’m sorry to inform you that indeed it is you. Worry not, though. You’ll find it out soon enough if I can predict anything and trust me, I can.” After these mysterious words the vocalist changed the subject. “Ne, you were asking me to take care of Miyu for you, right?”
“Anou… hai.” Shinya blinked and did his best to hide his confusion. “I figured that since you’re not going to the party you could do me a favour and take her to you. Unless you have other plans?”

“Iie, no plans if sleeping doesn’t count,” Kyo assured the other. “So when should I come to fetch her?”
“Well, Die-kun’s coming to pick me up around noon, so I guess whenever you’re ready,” Shinya answered with a smile.
“Okay. I just eat something and get dressed and then I’ll come.”
“Arigatou, Kyo-kun.”
“Anything for our sweet little drummer,” Kyo’s tone was teasing.

“Don’t you dare to start too, one Andou Daisuke is enough, thank you very much,” Shinya warned good-heartedly.
“What ever you say, my dearest Shinya!”
“Oh, go back to sleep or something,” the drummer giggled.
“Can’t do that, I have a cute little Chihuahua to fetch. I’ll see you soon, Shin-kun. Ja, ne.” Kyo laughed a little then hung up.

Shinya found himself staring at the phone for the second time during the same 24 hours. There just had to be something with the phone that made both Die and Kyo – even Kyo who wasn’t usually like that at all, Shinya reminded himself – act so weirdly. No wonder that the drummer didn’t really like talking on the phone.

Shinya checked the time and decided to feed Miyu and take a shower before making himself some breakfast or packing. He figured that he’d have time to do them before Kyo would arrive. So after giving Miyu her food Shinya headed towards the bathroom, deciding to take a nice long hot shower and wash his long hair with care. He hadn’t really decided yet how he’d do his hair for the party, he wasn’t even sure of how he’d dress, but he wanted it to look nice and feel as soft and silky as possible.

Shinya took his time, and when he finally finished his shower and had wrapped a towel around his waist, there was a knock on the door. Kyo already? The vocalist had definitely been faster than Shinya had thought. The drummer improved the position of his towel and walked to the door, opening it and facing a little sleepy looking but otherwise normal Kyo.

“Ne, taking a shower, Shin-kun?” Kyo asked, his gaze following the little droplets of water that still glistered on Shinya’s bare chest.
“Hai. I didn’t expect you to come here that fast, you’re usually much slower in the mornings,” Shinya explained and resisted the urge to wrap his arms around himself. The direct gaze Kyo was giving him made him just a tiny bit uneasy, but he hid it behind his usual mask.

“Well, I believe I then surprised us both with this,” Kyo smiled. Suddenly he seemed to realize what he had been doing and cleared his throat. “Gomen, Shin-kun, I shouldn’t have been staring at you like that. I guess I’m still a bit sleepy,” he smiled sheepishly and shifted his gaze to his feet.
“It’s okay, Kyo-kun. Do come in,” Shinya gestured the older man to step in. Kyo obeyed and faced an eager little Chihuahua who was yapping enthusiastically around him. The vocalist bent down and Miyu jumped straight into his arms.
“Aw, nice to see you again, little one,” Kyo cooed and Shinya hid his smile. The two of them looked absolutely kawaii together though he was wise enough not to vocalise his thoughts to the older man. Instead, the drummer just watched Miyu licking Kyo’s face and Kyo smiling softly at the tiny dog.

“Ne, Kyo-kun, would you like to join me for breakfast or do you want to just take her and leave?” Shinya asked. “I haven’t yet packed for her but it won’t take long if you want to leave soon.”
“Iie, I’d love to join you for breakfast. I haven’t actually eaten anything before I came here so that might explain why I was so fast.”
“Good. Let me just go and get dressed real fast and then I’ll come and make us something to eat.”
“Take your time, I’m in no hurry,” Kyo assured. “I’ll be in the living room with Miyu.”

“Yeah, make yourself at home,” Shinya advised and disappeared to his bedroom where he quickly grabbed a pair of black jeans and some random shirt. Then he checked his mirror image, decided that he looked presentable enough and did his best to dry his hair with his towel before heading back to the living room with his hairbrush in his hand. He intended to brush his hair while waiting the tea to boil.

“I’m ready,” the drummer informed Kyo when he reached his destination.
“You’re pretty fast yourself,” Kyo smiled to him and followed him to the kitchen with the little Chihuahua at his heels.
“Well, I only dried my hair and got dressed, that doesn’t require much time,” Shinya explained, smiling a little and starting to make the breakfast.
“Right. So, can I help you with something?”
“I don’t think so. Just sit down, this won’t take too long.” By the time the vocalist had settled down Shinya had already set the table. “I’m going to just make something fast and easy, okay?”
“Everything’s fine by me,” Kyo assured, watching the drummer who had placed some food in front of him and was just reaching out for the hairbrush he had placed near the oven.

The younger man started to brush his long hair while waiting the tea to get ready, but Kyo noticed that he didn’t seem to succeed in clearing up the tangles. He got up and gently took the hairbrush from the drummer.
“Here, let me do that, you don’t want to end up losing half your hair, now do you? Just sit down and enjoy,” he guided. Hesitantly, Shinya obeyed and let Kyo brush his hair. The vocalist smiled and gently started to clear up the tangles, starting at the roots and slowly proceeding upwards. He felt Shinya relax under his touch and took time to marvel at his beautiful hair.

“Ne, Shin-kun, have you already decided the dress you’re going to wear at the party?” Kyo asked casually.
“Not yet, and wait a minute, Kyo-kun, how can you be so sure that I’m going to wear a dress?” Shinya questioned, suspiciously.
“But of course you’re going to wear a dress!” The vocalist sounded a bit surprised over the question. “You’re our beautiful Shinya, what else would you be wearing?” He lifted his eyebrow. “You and Die are going to look absolutely fantastic together, I’m almost feeling sorry for not to be able to see you guys there.”
“Well, you chose not to come so blame yourself.” Shinya was clearly amused now. “Though I wish you’d go instead of me, you would look great with Die-kun.”

“You actually believe that I’d go with him, or that he’d go with me?”
“Sure, why not?”
Kyo chuckled. “First of all, I would definitely not be wearing a dress, and neither would Die. So we’d be looking a bit funny together.”
“But why is it so important that one of us wears a dress?” Shinya wanted to know.
“Totchi’s wearing one, too.”
”That’s your reason?” Amused, the drummer lifted his eyebrow.
“Not only that. My reason is that you are beautiful and Die’s handsome and you two make an adorable couple.”
Shinya blushed. “Don’t say such things, Kyo-kun,” he begged.
“Why not? It’s true, you know, even Kao-kun and Totchi admit that,” Kyo said, grinning at the drummer’s flustered expression.

Shinya was silent for a while. “Can we change the subject?” he then asked.
“If you wish it,” Kyo smirked.
Shinya ignored the teasing tone in Kyo’s voice. “You’re ready soon, with my hair I mean?”
“In a minute.”
“Good, the tea will be ready soon, too.” Shinya smiled and closed his eyes when he felt Kyo run his fingers through his hair, seemingly making sure that there were no tangles left. The drummer didn’t make a sound even though he knew that the other just wanted to touch his hair.
“Your hair feels so smooth,” Kyo mumbled to himself.
“Mh.”

“Anou… I’m done now,” Kyo informed after a while and handed the hairbrush back to Shinya who took it and placed it on the table next to himself.
“So is the tea.” The drummer got up, took the teapot and poured some of the brown liquid to both of them. Then he sat down in front of Kyo and they started to eat.

When Kyo and Miyu left Shinya alone in his apartment the drummer noticed that he didn’t have too much time to waste if he wanted to be ready in time. He headed back to the bathroom and dried his hair properly with the help of the hairdryer then returned to his bedroom to do the packing.

The packing itself didn’t take long but the choosing of what he’d wear at the party proved to be a bit difficult. Shinya went through all the possible clothes in his wardrobe contained but couldn’t make the decision. Hell, he didn’t even know whether he should wear a dress or not! Kyo’s words echoed in his ears mixing with Die’s ones of reminding him to wear something nice, and he gave a frustrated sigh. Should he wear a dress or not? Truth to be told, he had been planning on wearing one but now the conversation with Kyo the drummer hesitated. But then again, did it really matter what the vocalist had said? And Shinya guessed that they all would be expecting him to wear a dress anyway.

Sighing again Shinya gave up and took out two dresses. He held them close to his body and examined his mirror image carefully. Both of them were long, coming down on his ankles, but the blue one was a bit slacker than the red one. The drummer tilted his head; the decision was indeed not that easy to make. He knew that he should have asked Kyo to help him when he had had the chance but now it was too late. He was on his own and the clock was ticking.

Chewing his lower lip Shinya stared at the mirror, trying to find the answer there. No, it wasn’t working. A glance towards the clock told the drummer that he was in a hurry, so finally Shinya chose the red dress. He barely had the time to put it in his back and rearrange his bedroom before he heard a knock from the door.

“He too is faster than I expected,” Shinya muttered to himself as he hurried to open the door for Die.
“You’re ready, Shin-chan?” the guitarist asked when the door was opened.
“In a minute,” Shinya answered and gestured Die to come in. “I just grab my bag and tie up my hair and then I’m done.”

Die smiled at the drummer and suddenly slipped his hands around his thin frame, effectively pulling him close to his body. The redhead buried his face in Shinya’s hair and inhaled deeply the scent of the other’s apple flavoured shampoo. “Mm, your hair smells so nice,” he murmured. Shinya stiffened in his arms.
“Anou, Die-kun, what are you doing?”
“Holding you,” Die simply answered.
“Let me go,” Shinya demanded, shivering slightly at the feeling of the other’s breath on his skin.
“Not yet.”

“I thought we were supposed to get going soon.” The drummer tried to free himself but failed. “Die-kun!”
“Yes, my sweet Shin-chan?”
“This is not funny anymore,” Shinya exclaimed loudly.
“Oh but it is,” Die practically purred.

Shinya took some calming breaths. “Die-kun, just let me go, okay?” He didn’t want to beg, but he feared that the older man wouldn’t leave him any other choice.
“On one condition.”
“Which is?” Shinya was almost afraid to ask.
“A kiss.”
”A what? Oh no, Die-kun, please not again. I’ve told you times and times again that I’m not going to play that game with you!”
“I’m not playing any games, Shin-chan,” Die whispered softly in Shinya’s ear.

“Listen, just let me go, onegai?” Shinya was starting to get desperate. How stubborn could a man get? Very, if Die was the man in question. Why did he have to be like that, Shinya didn’t understand. He sighed and was about to try again when he felt Die turn him to face the guitarist. The drummer swallowed when he met the other’s intense gaze but was quick enough to turn his head so that Die’s lips landed on his cheek instead of his lips like the redhead had originally meant.

“Mou, Shin-chan, you moved your head.” Die pouted.
“Yes I did,” Shinya answered. “And you got your kiss, now will you let me go?”
“But it wasn’t a proper kiss,” the guitarist whined.
“You only said “a kiss”, not “a proper kiss”, remember,” the younger man stated.
“Aw, you’re no fun, Shin-chan!”
“That’s right. Now let me go.”
Laughing, Die obeyed. “It was worth a try, ne,” he grinned.

Shinya rolled his eyes, moving away from the other. At least he had managed to escape from an uncomfortable situation, that was something he should be glad of. “I’ll go get my bag,” the drummer informed and practically ran to his bedroom. He stopped in front of the mirror and noticed a faint blush tinting his cheeks. Damn Die and his weird behaviour! Shinya closed his eyes and wished the blush to disappear. When he opened them again it was indeed vanished but Shinya knew that it would be much harder to get rid of the mixed feeling his body and mind were sending to him.

Sighing, Shinya gathered his long hair up and tied them with a black scarf he found lying on his bed. Then he took a closer look on his mirror image, making sure that he looked calmer that he felt, grabbed his bag and returned to Die who was patiently waiting him in the hall.

“Where’s Miyu?” Die asked as he saw the drummer approaching.
“At Kyo’s,” Shinya answered shortly, putting on his shoes and taking his coat. “I’m ready now.”
“Great, let’s go then,” Die exclaimed enthusiastically, opening the door. “After you,” he said to Shinya and closed it behind them.

Shinya felt Die’s eyes on him all the way to the guitarist’s car and was relieved when he finally found himself sitting on the passenger’s seat next to Die. The drummer knew that Die would be concentrating on the road rather than on him so he figured he’d survive the long drive. Sighing, Shinya leaned on the window and closed his eyes, wishing the day to pass as quickly as possible.
