dxs_love's final week as well as, even though horribly late, for my Christmas calendar.
It was their annual Christmas slash New Year’s party – the band, their closest friends, some of the staff (actually, some of them did fit both categories, now that Shinya thought about it) – and well, the same old faces.
Shinya was slightly bored.
And not because of those same old faces, mind you. He recalled those days when the band had just started – those years and those certain parties – when some of them had, for the lack of a better term, gone slightly crazy. Those parties had been lively, loud; full of people and alcohol and loud music, friends and fans all mingled together and sometimes it had happened that Shinya had only recognised a handful of the people there when the night had progressed.
Those parties Shinya half wished to forget.
Although, he mused, the experience had not merely been a bad one. Surely there had been something in the parties to learn from, if not about his own person then at least about his band mates.
Luckily said band mates had grown older and wiser and no longer insisted on such parties whenever an opportunity presented itself. Only every third time or so.
Although he had never counted the percentages or anything along those lines.
Neither had he ever claimed to not enjoy such parties. He merely favoured quieter ones, nowadays, more often than not.
Shinya chuckled at his thoughts, an amused smile gracing his lips. He could hear his friends laughing and chatting and generally having fun around him, and wasn’t that what these parties were for, anyway?
His smile widened when he distinguished Kaoru’s voice, followed by Nora’s. Both were laughing, and Shinya was certain that they were flirting with each other. Maybe they would finally make it official tonight.
He supposed that it would be about time, anyway, for those two had been getting more and more obvious.
Suddenly Shinya could feel someone sitting down next to him. He turned his head slightly and was met with a familiar pair of eyes looking straight at him.
Die.
“You know, Shin, we could use a mistletoe here,” Die mused out loud.
“A mistletoe?”
Die nodded. “Yes.”
Shinya arched an eyebrow. “Oh? And what, pray tell, would we do with such a thing?”
“Well, I would of course use it as a perfectly innocent yet cleverly cunning excuse to kiss you.”
Shinya’s eyes twinkled. “Die? You don’t need a mistletoe to kiss me.”
The smile on Die’s lips was dazzling and also the last thing Shinya saw before the guitarist took advantage of his words and leaned in for a gentle kiss.
Maybe he wouldn’t need to be so bored after all.
